ATTO Technology Releases Newest Member of its FibreBridge® Product Line

Provides 4-Gb Fibre Channel-to-Ultra320 SCSI Bridging in a Form Factor Ideal for Space-constrained Storage Enclosures

Mar 14, 2007

Amherst, NY (March 14, 2007) — ATTO Technology, Inc., a global leader of storage connectivity and infrastructure solutions for data-intensive computing environments, announced today that its newest Fibre Channel bridge, the ATTO FibreBridge® 2370E, is now shipping. Representing the latest in the company's innovative line of bridging products, the FibreBridge® 2370E is available in a small form factor (3.9”W x 7.995”L) that allows Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to integrate the bridge into space-constrained disk and tape storage devices, such as tape autoloaders and drives.  With its unique dimensions, the FibreBridge® 2370E is a simple, cost-effective solution for OEMs to embed 4-Gigabit Fibre Channel connectivity into current and next generation SCSI-based storage.

The release of the FibreBridge® 2370E adds to ATTO's line of FibreBridge® products, which includes the FibreBridge® 2400C/R/D, featuring two 4-Gigabit Fibre Channel ports and two Ultra320 SCSI ports, and the FibreBridge® 2390C/R/D, offering one 4-Gigabit Fibre Channel port and two Ultra320 SCSI ports. Additionally, ATTO offers the iPBridge™ product line, an extensive line of iSCSI bridges, which ranges from basic connectivity-based solutions to mid-range Enterprise-class products.

The FibreBridge® 2370E offers benefits found on all ATTO FibreBridge®s, including:

  • Simplified Management – ATTO's ExpressNAV™ is a web-based GUI which allows customers to remotely manage multiple storage devices attached to the FibreBridge®. This eases configuration, upgrades, monitoring and management by providing an easy-to-use interface accessible through any web browser.
  • Enhanced Performance – Through the ATTO-designed SpeedWrite™ feature, performance of SCSI storage is improved by the efficient queuing of outstanding Write commands. By increasing Write performance, the FibreBridge® 2370E allows users to complete backups in shorter time periods.
  • Reduce Failed Backups – ATTO's Virtual Drive Response (VDR) technology enables the bridge to respond to requests on behalf of busy or momentarily unavailable tape storage. This reduces the number of failed or incomplete backups, thus improving the reliability of tape backup processes.

"The release of the FibreBridge® 2370E reinforces ATTO's commitment to delivering cutting-edge bridging solutions for the changing needs of today's networked storage environments,” states Tom Kolniak, Manager of Products for ATTO Technology, Inc. “All ATTO FibreBridge®s now feature 4-Gigabit Fibre Channel and Ultra320 SCSI technology, allowing users to connect high-performance SCSI storage into 4-Gigabit Fibre Channel SANs. Also, the form factor of the FibreBridge® 2370E allows for integration into smaller enclosures, including tape autoloaders.”

“SER's strong commitment to offer the highest-reliability permanent storage solutions for automated archive, backup and recovery is directly in line with ATTO and their continued efforts to bring cost-effective, embeddable Fibre Channel Bridging solutions to the market,” said Torsten Weiler, General Manager of SER Storage Technology GmbH. “By integrating the ATTO FibreBridge® 2370E into our Jukebox JB6U and AIT Tape Library TLX products, we were given a simple path to add 4-Gigabit Fibre Channel connectivity to our SCSI storage products and enable our customers to utilize storage area networks for their archive solutions.”

As the latest addition to ATTO's line of 4-Gigabit Fibre Channel bridges, the FibreBridge® 2370E leverages ATTO's experience with bridging products to provide a cost-effective solution to add Fibre Channel connectivity to SCSI devices while offering a winning combination of performance, usability and affordability.
