ATTO enables media and entertainment

Nov 13, 2007

Amherst, NY, November 13, 2007 — ATTO Technology, Inc., a global leader of storage connectivity and infrastructure solutions for data-intensive computing environments, announced today that it is developing 8-Gigabit Fibre Channel technology product solutions. This commitment continues ATTO's tradition as a leader in next generation storage-infrastructure solutions.

As a market leader in high-performance storage applications, ATTO consistently delivers early market solutions that enable cutting edge technology.  Today's growing demand for media-rich entertainment requires very large, very high-performance storage systems. ATTO 8-Gigabit products will enable the media and entertainment industry's most demanding applications such as 2K and 4K film, multiple layers of complex, uncompressed real-time effects, and high-definition (HD) video and audio editing. New 8-Gigabit Fibre Channel products will also feature ATTO's exclusive Advanced Data Streaming (ADS™) technology that provides controlled acceleration of large and small blocks of data, enabling users to achieve the ultimate in I/O performance.

ATTO has a comprehensive product line of host adapters and storage appliances.  As with current solutions, ATTO 8-Gigabit Fibre Channel products will have multiple O/S, port and driver options.  This ensures backward compatibility, enabling users to preserve their 4- Gigabit and 2- Gigabit Fibre Channel investments. ATTO's 8-Gigabit PCI Express 2.0 platform is also backward compatible with existing PCIe bus platforms.

“The launch of our 8-Gigabit Fibre Channel products furthers ATTO's strategy of offering the most robust, comprehensive line of Fibre Channel connectivity solutions,” states Ed Tierney, director of marketing at ATTO Technology. “As one of the first companies to deliver 8-Gig/sec. Fibre Channel technology, ATTO is uniquely positioned to enable our customers to accelerate the time to market of their next-generation streaming and high-performance solutions.”

Following up on its first to market 4-Gigabit Fibre Channel technology offerings in the Fall of 2004, ATTO continues to maximize its product lines to serve and lead the ever-changing world of storage connectivity. ATTO will begin shipping products featuring 8-Gigabit Fibre Channel technology to OEMs for qualification in mid-2008.
