Amherst, NY (May 13, 2008) — ATTO Technology, Inc., a global leader of storage connectivity and infrastructure solutions for data-intensive computing environments, today announced that market leading recovery management software provider CA Inc. has certified ATTO's Virtual Tape hardware, the FastStream™ VT 5300 and FastStream™ VT 5700 for use with their CA ARCserve© Backup software.
CA ARCserve Backup allows customers to easily incorporate ATTO's FastStream Virtual Tape appliances into their backup environment. When paired with off-the-shelf disk storage systems, FastStream VT appliances allow customers to add high-performance virtual tape to their existing infrastructure. With FastStream's user-friendly configuration options, users can integrate the virtual tape appliance into an existing environment without the need to change backup software, policies or procedures.
“With the FastStream VT appliance we have been working with leading backup software providers to offer options for our customers who would like to upgrade to a virtual tape solution,” said Tom Kolniak, Director of Products at ATTO Technology. “The FastStream VT gives customers the flexibility to increase the ROI on their traditional tape solutions while enjoying the performance and capacity benefits of a disk-based virtual tape solution.”
“Customers need to improve the performance, scalability and economy of their data protection processes without disrupting their IT operations,” said Frank Jablonski, Director of Product Marketing for Recovery Management at CA. “Our testing validated that CA ARCserve Backup users can easily take advantage of the speed of CA's high-performance backup and ATTO's Virtual Tape appliance to effectively reduce backup windows and reduce data storage costs.”
About FastStream VT
Designed as an external device that integrates with off-the-shelf disk storage, the FastStream VT is a standalone appliance that allows attached disk storage to appear like a conventional tape library to backup software applications. Management is simple with the built-in ATTO ExpressNAV™ VTL manager, featuring an intuitive point-and-click interface, ExpressNAV allows for remote configuration, management and diagnostics. Once the FastStream is installed, existing virtual tape libraries can be expanded by adding storage as backup needs grow. With performance of up to 1.89 TB/hour from up to 60 concurrent streams of data, this solution ensures backups are completed on time and that restores complete in seconds.
