Amherst, NY (May 14, 2008) – ATTO Technology, Inc., a global leader of storage connectivity and infrastructure solutions for data-intensive computing environments, announces the release of the ExpressSAS® H30F 16-port SAS/SATA II host adapter to its existing family of SAS host and RAID adapters. Now available, the H30F model delivers blazing-fast performance with transfer rates of up to 3 Gigabits per second per port with the flexibility to connect to both SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) and SATA II (Serial ATA) devices.
The ExpressSAS® H30F offers connectivity through four internal x4 MiniSAS SFF-8087 connectors supporting up to 256 devices when connected through SAS expanders. With 16 ports, each of which is capable of delivering up to 300 megabytes per second performance, the H30F makes use of an on-board expander, allowing direct connectivity of up to 16 internal drives and eliminating the need for the enclosure to provide expandability through a mid-plane.
The ExpressSAS® H30F adapter combines x8 PCIe technology, SAS speeds and ATTO's exclusive Advanced Data Streaming (ADS™) Technology to provide a cost-effective, direct-attached solution for high-performance server environments and digital-video applications. SAS, the next generation SCSI interface, delivers significant improvements in scalability, performance, reliability, and flexibility over parallel SCSI by leveraging a serial architecture for data transport. PCI Express is a low-cost, highly scalable serial bus technology that delivers added performance to your application by increasing the I/O capacity while eliminating bus contention. To achieve optimal performance in high-bandwidth environments, ATTO has architected a combination of hardware and software elements to effectively manage latencies and control the acceleration of data transfers. Together, these technologies provide the fastest and most efficient performance with reduced I/O bottlenecks.
"ATTO has significant experience as a pioneer in the storage market and today's announcement of the ExpressSAS® family extension with our SAS/SATA 16-port host adapter demonstrates our commitment as a trusted industry leader," said Edward Tierney, director of marketing at ATTO Technology. "As we did with our SCSI and Fibre Channel product lines, we have taken the lead in delivering multi-vendor operating system support and interoperability while deliver blazing-fast throughput -- the ideal solution for transactional database applications, email servers and large server farms."
ATTO also plans to release the ExpressSAS® R30F RAID version later this summer. With the same advanced feature set found in the ExpressSAS® H30F, the R30F model takes high-performance to the next level. Capable of handling the most bandwidth-intense applications, the ExpressSAS® R30F will offer the benefits of 16-port direct attached connectivity while providing ATTO's high-performance RAID protection.
