ATTO Technology Delivers iSCSI Connectivity for
IBM Tape Platforms
iSCSI-to-SCSI Bridges Allow Users to Attach IBM Ultrium Tape Library
to a Gigabit Ethernet Network
Amherst, NY – July 19, 2006 - ATTO Technology, Inc., a global leader of storage connectivity
and infrastructure solutions for data-intensive computing environments, announced today that
its iPBridge™ 2600 and iPBridge 1550 iSCSI-to-SCSI bridge products have successfully
completed interoperability testing with IBM’s Ultrium tape library products and have been
confirmed as IBM System Storage Proven. Customers can immediately benefit from a certified
solution to integrate SCSI tape libraries into an iSCSI-based network.
“This program provides ATTO’s partners and customers with pre-certified solutions and
configurations to simplify the adoption of iSCSI solutions for IBM tape platforms," states Sherri
Robinson, director of markets for ATTO Technology. “Our participation in the program
demonstrates that ATTO and IBM are working together to increase customer satisfaction by
promoting greater interoperability.”
The ATTO iPBridge 2600 and iPBridge 1550 are designed to integrate SCSI devices into an
iSCSI network. The iPBridge 2600 and iPBridge 1550 empower customers who want the ability
to attach existing SCSI storage to an iSCSI-based network, enabling storage connectivity and
consolidation at an affordable price. Users can leverage their current Ethernet network by
providing the ability to attach or connect a SCSI tape library, such as an IBM Ultrium tape library
or other SCSI storage, and network them across an Ethernet IP-based network so multiple
users can access existing storage devices.
The iPBridge 2600 offers iSCSI connectivity to native SCSI devices via four independent iSCSI
ports and two independent Ultra320 SCSI busses. It allows storage devices to operate at near- native speeds with throughput at over 1TB/hr. The iPBridge 1550 offers iSCSI connectivity to
native SCSI devices via one independent iSCSI port to one independent Ultra160 SCSI port,
providing throughput of up to 400GB/hr.
Enabling storage centralization and consolidation at an extremely affordable price, the ATTO
iPBridge 1550 and the iPBridge 2600 allow data centers and small-to-midsize businesses to
maximize their ROI by utilizing existing storage resources as shared storage,” states Sherri
Robinson Lloyd, director of markets at ATTO Technology. “Utilizing the ATTO iPBridge 1550
with the IBM Ultrium tape libraries delivers a solution that makes it easier and more cost
effective to deploy networked storage.”
The IBM System Storage Proven program supports the ability of Independent Hardware and
Software Vendors to build high-quality solutions with the latest technology on leading storage
platforms as well as reduce solution design time when multiple, tested building blocks have
already been pre-tested.
