ATTO's Major Upgrade to Xtend SAN iSCSI Initiator for Mac OS X
ATTO plans to release a major upgrade to our Xtend SAN iSCSI Initiator for Mac OS X in September 2007. We want Mac users to get the most from their iSCSI environments, including:
• Challenge-Handshake Authentication Protocol (CHAP) Support - The implementation of CHAP in Xtend SAN enhances security of iSCSI SANs by validating the identity of remote clients.
• Internet Storage Name Service (iSNS) Support - iSNS is designed to facilitate the automated discovery, management and configuration of iSCSI storage devices. By implementing iSNS support, Xtend SAN provides a mechanism to simplify device discovery, reducing the time and effort associated with the initial configuration of an iSCSI SAN.
• Login Redirect - Login redirect increases the availability and reliability of the storage being accessed via Xtend SAN. Enabling login redirect in Xtend SAN allows it to redirect users to their intended targets in situations where the targets may not be available at the expected address. Without redirect, the user would not be able to log in to the intended target if it has moved.

Autodesk to OEM ATTO Celerity FC Host Adapters for Media and Entertainment Solutions
ATTO's Celerity 4-Gigabit Fibre Channel host adapters will be integrated as part of the Autodesk visual effects and editing/finishing solutions. ATTO is pleased to announce that Autodesk, Inc., a world leader in 2D and 3D design software, has entered into an agreement to integrate ATTO Celerity 4-Gigabit Fibre Channel Host Adapters as part of the Autodesk visual effects and editing/finishing solutions. The ATTO Celerity FC-44ES host adapter is utilized to achieve high-performance data transfers between workstations and storage systems accessed by Autodesk inferno, Autodesk Flame and Autodesk Flint visual effects systems, as well as the Autodesk Fire and Autodesk Smoke editing/finishing systems.
The Celerity FC-44ES optimizes the latest in host interconnect technology with PCI Express (PCIe), a serial, high-speed connection that supports aggregate throughput up to 1-GB/sec. Since PCI Express host adapters move data more efficiently than others, the FC-44ES provides a valuable advantage in data intensive environments such as HD and 2K editing applications. The FC-44ES also features ATTO's exclusive Advanced Data Streaming (ADS™) Technology for controlled acceleration of data transfers. With a combination of features that provides controlled acceleration of large and small blocks of data, ADS Technology enables users to achieve the ultimate in I/O performance.

ATTO Tech Talk: Backup Alternative
The FastStream™ Virtual Tape Appliance is a standalone storage peripheral which emulates a tape library while storing data to a standard SAS, Fibre Channel, SATA or SCSI disk array. The virtual tape appliance is flexible enough to allow you to use existing storage - JBOD or RAID arrays - to create virtual tape libraries. Since the virtual tape has been designed to interoperate with a large number of third party disk arrays, the configuration of both the virtual tape appliance and the drive array can have a significant impact on performance.
FastStream VT is seen by system applications as a conventional tape library with high-performance backup and restore and instantaneous file access capability along with seamless scalability. FastStream VT delivers immediate performance improvements to backup, restore and archival applications. With support for investments already made in tape drives, libraries and RAID equipment as well as application software, FastStream VT enables users to keep their current configuration in place, without changes to hardware, software, procedures or policies.
