ATTO Tech Talk: iSCSI – Storage via Ethernet
Storage Area Networks (SANs) are increasing in popularity for businesses that want to allow remote access to critical data. Considering this trend, more and more remote workers need simple connectivity to SANs. ATTO has developed a solution using the iSCSI protocol that provides this connectivity and facilitates easier access to data, collaboration on projects and editing of audio or video files directly on the SAN.
Data can be instantly moved over IP to and from a remote location by combining the ATTO Xtend SAN software-based iSCSI initiator with an ATTO iPBridge™ 2700. The Xtend SAN software allows Mac® OS X servers, workstations and laptops the ability to communicate with Fibre Channel storage devices over an Ethernet network when used with the iPBridge 2700 iSCSI-to-Fibre Channel bridge. ATTO Technology’s iSCSI bridging expertise offers users time-tested functionality with features that improve the manageability and reliability of attached storage.
